Change Energy has been involved in the design and development of well in excess of 100 CNG vehicle refuelling stations. Of particular note is the GAIN/Emterra project in 2015.
Gain Fuel Canada*/Emterra Environmental
Project Background: Emterra Environmental contracted U.S. Venture Gain Fuel Canada to design, build, own and operate a GAIN Clean Fuel CNG refuelling station in Mississauga, Ontario to serve 140 waste and recycling vehicles being deployed in the Region of Peel, Ontario. Together the two companies decided that the project should include additional retail fuelling lanes for third party CNG fleets.
Challenges and Solutions:Commitments to municipal fleets required fast-tracking of the project’s design and permitting. Gain Fuel Canada* contracted Change Energy as the project’s engineer of record and Change Energy subsequently teamed with Conestoga-Rovers Associates (now GHD) to deliver the full scope of engineering and permits and approvals for the project.
The facility’s compression system needed to serve 24/7 operations while complying with Ontario’s Operating Engineers Act. Change Energy worked with Gain Fuel Canada*/Emterra and equipment manufacturers to design a system that limited the requirement for on-staff compressor operators.
