Hydrogen + Oxygen = Electricity
Hydrogen has the ability to be a leader in the electrification movement
Momentum of Hydrogen
Hydrogen can be made from just about any source of energy – renewable, fossil or biogenic. Depending on how it’s made, hydrogen can have a carbon-intensity that is low, zero or net-negative. The Hydrogen Council – a CEO-level advisory group representing some of the world’s largest companies, ranging from Cummins to Microsoft – asserts that nearly one-fifth of the world’s energy use in 2050 will need to be low-carbon hydrogen to fulfill the Paris Agreement.
Hydrogen is a storable and transportable energy commodity, just like other gas and liquid fuels. But because its use in a fuel cell generates electricity, it can help decarbonize operations where power lines don't go. That is why hydrogen is considered part of the electrification movement.

Hydrogen is the smallest molecule,
but it is Canada's largest common denominator

Why Now
Over the past 30 years we've learned how to identify the factors that lead to success in sustainable energy systems. After assessing the industry appetite for change, fuel consumption and momentum of hydrogen, we know this is the ideal launching pad for a new paradigm in low carbon power generation.
William F. White International Inc. plans to have half-a-dozen hydrogen gensets on select sets in Toronto and Vancouver by 2022 and up to 60 units available to its customers by 2025.
By 2025, roughly two million kilograms of hydrogen will displace 12 million litres of carbon-emitting diesel fuel, annually. This transformation will achieve GHG emissions reductions of approximately 43,000 tonnes per year when fully realized.
